1. The Bible tells us to keep the feast as a memorial. (Exodus 12:14) They are The Lords Holy days not just for the Jewish (Leviticus 23:1-2). They are for everyone who follows Him (Exodus 12:48-49). The Feasts are not just in the Old Testament but were also kept in the New Testament, even AFTER Yahshua rose and ascended into heaven. Yahshua had come to fulfill, but not to abolish them, the Sabbath or The Torah (Matthew 5:17). Many of Gods most important events happened on these appointed days. We also see Gods plan of Yahshua’s second return in the fall feast yet to be fully fulfilled.
2. We now seek to keep the Feasts significant meanings. The feasts are the shadow; the meaning behind the feasts is the Messiah (Jesus), the Substance. (Colossians 2:17) We decided to keep the feasts literally and figuratively for the same reasons people still do water baptisms. The feasts are symbolic and have a lot to teach us. What better way to learn and understand their meaning than to live them out and celebrate their fulfillment, memorial and Gods master plan. We can’t find a reason why not to.
3. I’ve learned an astronomical amount of Biblical symbolisms in these Feast. The timing of these events, and how Yahshua is found throughout the Old Testament, all tie in together to tell these stories. It is a lot of information that seems to never end. I would have not known this had I not been seeking out these feasts. The church doesn’t teach about this, these feasts have blessed me and teach us how to worship Him not the way of the world, but the way He asked us to.
4. God has made hosting parties a passion for both Danny and myself. His feasts are FUN and we love doing them. It’s what's in our hearts and an amazing way to minister. But who else has this passion of keeping Yahshua centered Feasts? Not many, if it’s you, you’re welcome to join us.
Someone said to me "I know the pagan roots of Christmas and Easter but do we really need to celebrate the Biblical feast?" I replied to her....
Studying the feast has been an amazing blessing for me. I have learned so much more about Yahshua because of these feasts and the symbolism that unites the events of the Old Testament and The New. The feasts are a shadow of the things to come and Christ is the substance. I understand what that means now. I read a quote that says "Let us keep The Feast not because we have to under the righteousness of The Law; but as a memorial to be reminded of what Yahshua has accomplished and the plans and redemption of God." We can keep the feast to be religious, but then that would be pointless. We keep the feast because we want to understand Yahshua even more, celebrate His Holy days, and live out the meaning behind them. Living them out is an amazing reminder of what He wants us to remember. Not only do we learn about Yahshua, but they are actually fun! I can't wait for the Feast of Tabernacles! I wish one day to have a Tabernacle building contest! We are using the festivals also to minister to our family and friends what we've learned. Not only is it fun, but it’s impossibleto celebrate the feast without Yahshua. Easter and Christmas are not so much about Jesus anymore. I know true Christians have Jesus in their hearts when they celebrate but those holidays were actually stolen and neverbelonged to The Lord to begin with. Why mix with the world when we are called to be set apart. Why celebrate them, when we have these? For me and MY house, we know that it’s Yahshua who knows when we are sleeping and awake, it’s Yahshua who knows if we've been bad or good. Not Santa who is the modern omnipresent worldly god. There is only ONE who knows all. Stop mixing. (Deuteronomy 12:30-31, Leviticus 18:3, Ephesians 4:17, 1 Peter 4:3)
The role of a Christian in the first few centuries went from horrible persecution to rolls in leadership after Constantine took over. Many pagan leaders converted to Christianity. However, Instead of the Romans/Pagans changing to look like Christians, the reverse happened. Christians instead transformed to the pagan ways and customs and mixed Yahshua into the pagan holidays. This shapes much of the church and traditions we see today. When the believing Jews fought against these changes (like the removal of 7th day Sabbath) the separation and alienation from the Jews then started. YHWHs traditions had conflict with the new believing pagans and their traditions. The pagans weren't compromising their traditions for YHWH. The first churches and Christians do not resemble the church we have today. The warning in revelation is telling you who call yourselves Christians to repent and stop mixing with pagans, come up out of Babylon. Those who are not watching do not notice the prophecies in Revelation quickly coming to pass. Time is short. Keep your oil full and get your house in order. Seek Him like never before. Praise Yah, Amen.
Jewish Holidays or Yahweh’s Holy Days
Leviticus 23:1-2
The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, these are the appointed feasts of the Lord that you shall proclaim as holy convocations; they are MY appointed feasts."
Many say "Okay, but only the Jews are commanded to celebrate."
Numbers 15:15-16
For the assembly (of Feast), there shall be one statute for you and for the stranger who sojourns with you, a statute forever throughout your generations. You and the sojourner shall be alike before the Lord. One law and one rule shall be for you and for the stranger who sojourns with you.”
The New Testament is for Christians, the Old Testament is for Jews
The New Testament is not a "NEW" religion. The New Testament is for the Jews and Judah. We are all grafted in.
Jeremiah 31:31-33
(Prophecy from Old Testament- so who is the New Covenant for?)
“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Still For today?
1 Corinthians 5:7-8
“Let us therefore celebrate the feasts, not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.”
My family will always celebrate, but even if you don't have a big feast or lots of decorations, we still need to celebrate their meaning, knowing that… “These (feast) are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.” Colossians 2:17 “These (feast) are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.” Colossians 2:17
